The studio visit is a time-honored art world protocol where colleagues arrange to view each other's in-progress work, contribute feedback, and share connections. It’s a cornerstone of professional creative practice everywhere, and we’re going to turn it into software.
The Studio Visit app will consist of three main components: a slick but informal scheduling tool; an index of practices searchable by location and other metadata; and a relevant feed of in-progress work (links, images, code, video, audio). Studio Visit will encourage users to quickly document their work and share it with friends and colleagues.
Artists love to push boundaries, and we believe our target market will force us to develop a novel approach towards content moderation and community management. We’re developing a distributed, continuously federated moderation system for encrypted content based on Keybase and scuttlebutt, so that our users will feel safe whether their studio is a sunlit loft or their laptop.
